Urei 1176

Effects by Urei

The Urei 1176 is a solid-state FET compressor / limiter designed by Bill Putnam Sr. and released in 1967. Famous for its lightning-fast attack (down to 20 microseconds), its musical distortion characteristics and the legendary "all-buttons-in" British Mode where every ratio button is pressed at once. It has been a fixture of vocal, drum and bass chains since the late 1960s and has gone through multiple revisions (Rev A blue stripe, Rev D/E black face, Rev H silver face). Universal Audio still manufactures hardware reissues today.
