Urei

Urei (United Recording Electronics Industries) was a Los Angeles audio equipment maker founded by Bill Putnam Sr. in 1958. It became one of the defining names in professional studio gear, producing classic outboard like the 1176 FET limiter, the LA-3A and LA-4 optical compressors, the 545 parametric EQ and the 813 studio monitors. Harman bought the company in 1984 and the brand was retired in the late 1990s, though many of its circuits live on through Universal Audio.
