Serge Gainsbourg

Serge Gainsbourg was a French singer-songwriter and pianist who began his career in Paris in the 1950s, initially working within chanson and jazz traditions before moving into pop and studio-based composition. Across his career he blended chanson with pop, jazz, rock and reggae, moving towards increasingly experimental arrangements and provocative lyrical themes that had a lasting impact on French popular culture.
