The Shangri‐Las
The Shangri-Las are an American pop girl group formed in Queens, New York, in 1963, whose recordings drew on 1960s pop and doo-wop conventions. They are associated with a teenage-melodrama style that combined melodramatic narratives, spoken-word passages and a defiant 'tough-girl' persona, situating them within the 1960s girl-group era and linking their aesthetic to later punk and indie discussions.
