Grete Sultan

Grete Sultan was a German-born classical pianist from Berlin who began her career in Germany in the interwar period and emigrated to the United States in 1941, specialising in twentieth-century piano repertoire. She championed contemporary and avant-garde piano works and combined performance with teaching, her programming and pedagogy reflecting the transatlantic cultural exchanges of the post-war era.
