Julia Wolfe
Julia Wolfe is an American composer who emerged from the New York contemporary classical scene in the 1980s and is associated with post-minimalism and contemporary classical music. Her work combines minimalist procedures with rock- and folk-derived rhythms, often written for large ensembles and multimedia settings, and she co-founded the Bang on a Can collective to support experimental new music and engage with social and vernacular American themes.
