Pieter Nooten is a Dutch musician from Nijmegen who emerged in the early 1980s as a founding member of the gothic/darkwave band Clan of Xymox and later pursued solo and collaborative projects. His work blends brooding atmospheric synths and melancholic vocal lines with subsequent explorations into ambient and electronic textures, and his releases on independent labels contributed to the development of the darkwave and post-punk-derived electronic scenes.
