The Dirty Dozen Brass Band are an American brass band formed in New Orleans in 1977, emerging from the city's brass-band tradition and blending elements of jazz, funk and R&B. They revitalised the brass-band format by incorporating bebop, funk, soul and later hip-hop-influenced rhythms into traditional parade and street-music arrangements, influencing the modern New Orleans scene and broader brass-band practice.
