Det Kongelige Kapel is the Danish Royal Orchestra attached to the Royal Danish Theatre, with origins tracing back to the 15th century (commonly cited as 1448), specialising in classical, operatic and symphonic repertoire. Evolving from a court chapel ensemble into a modern professional orchestra, it performs repertoire from Baroque to contemporary works and serves as the principal opera and ballet orchestra for the Royal Danish Theatre, playing a long-standing role in Denmark's musical and cultural life.
