Scritti Politti are a British band formed in 1977 that began in the UK post‑punk scene and later incorporated elements of synthpop, new wave and sophisticated pop. Over the early 1980s they shifted from DIY, politically engaged post‑punk to a polished, studio‑based pop sound blending electronic production with soul and R&B influences while their lyrics frequently explored language, politics and desire.
