Femi Kuti

Femi Kuti is a Nigerian musician from Lagos who began his career in the 1980s and is associated with Afrobeat, funk and jazz-influenced music. His music builds on the Afrobeat tradition with extended horn arrangements, polyrhythmic grooves and politically and socially conscious lyrics, and over his career he has incorporated contemporary production and international collaborations, situating his work within global world music contexts.
