Symphony No. 6 is the sixth symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed and premiered in 1808. It adopts a pastoral character, employing lyrical melodies, varied orchestral colour and episodic movements that evoke rural scenes and a storm, and is notable in Beethoven's middle period for its programme elements and its role in the transition from the Classical to the early Romantic idiom.
