Vingt regards sur l'Enfant-Jésus nos. 1-6 is a selection of movements from the solo piano cycle Vingt regards sur l'Enfant-Jésus by French composer Olivier Messiaen, composed in 1944. The music showcases Messiaen's distinctive harmonic language, including modes of limited transposition, together with complex rhythmic structures, bird-inspired figurations and richly layered contemplative textures, and it sits at the centre of his mature piano output and of mid-twentieth-century French musical modernism.
