The Firebird

Album by Igor Fyodorovitch Stravinsky & City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra & Simon Rattle

The Firebird is a ballet score by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky, premiered in 1910. The music fuses Russian folk-inspired melodies with vivid orchestral colours, inventive rhythmic patterns and bold harmonic language that bridge late Romanticism and early modernism, and it marked a turning point in Stravinsky's career that brought him international attention.
