Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, Op. 55 is a symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, completed in 1804. The work is rooted in the classical tradition and has a larger scale than Beethoven's earlier symphonies, with extended development sections, bold harmonic shifts, expanded orchestration and dramatic contrasts, and it belongs to his middle period where he moved towards more ambitious formal and expressive aims that influenced 19th-century symphonic practice.
