Symphony no. 9
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Berliner Philharmoniker & Herbert von Karajan
Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125 is the ninth and final symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, completed and first performed in 1824. The work straddles the Classical and Romantic eras, featuring expanded orchestration and, unusually for its time, the addition of vocal soloists and a chorus in the final movement, signalling a broadening of the symphony's expressive and structural possibilities.
