Cardillac is an opera by German composer Paul Hindemith, composed and premiered in 1926. The work employs a compact, modernist musical language with dense, chromatic orchestration, confrontational vocal writing and elements of expressionist and neoclassical style, representing an early stage in Hindemith's development as a 20th-century composer.
