Symphonie No. 6

Album by Gustav Mahler & City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra & Simon Rattle

Symphony No. 6 is the sixth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1904. The large-scale late-Romantic work is characterised by dense orchestration, wide dynamic range, stark dramatic contrasts and the use of percussive hammer effects, and it marks a darker, more intense phase in Mahler's middle-period symphonic output.
