Messiah: A Sacred Oratorio is an oratorio by George Frideric Handel, composed in 1741 and first performed in 1742. The work is written for choir and orchestra in Baroque style, with arias, recitatives and choruses centred on Christian texts, and it has a long performance history in British choral tradition.
