Symphony No. 2

Album by Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff & Royal Philharmonic Orchestra & André Previn

Symphony No. 2 is the second symphony by Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff, completed in 1907. The work is rooted in the late-Romantic style, characterised by sweeping, lyrical melodies, lush orchestral colours and expansive multi-movement structures, and it marked Rachmaninoff's return to large-scale symphonic writing, becoming a central part of his orchestral output in the early 20th century.
