Asrael
Album by Josef Suk & Helsingin kaupunginorkesteri & Vladimir Ashkenazy
Asrael is the second symphony (Op. 27) by Czech composer Josef Suk, completed in 1906. The work is a large-scale late-Romantic symphony that blends sombre, elegiac themes and richly chromatic orchestration, written as a memorial in response to the deaths of Antonín Dvořák and Suk's wife and marking a darker, more mature phase in his compositional development.
