Album by Franz Schubert & Rudolf Serkin & Jaime Laredo & Philipp Naegele & Leslie Parnas & Julius Levine
The Piano Quintet in A major, D.667, commonly known as the 'Trout' Quintet, is a chamber composition by Franz Schubert composed in 1819. Scored for piano, violin, viola, cello and double bass, it blends lyrical melody, dance-like rhythms and inventive instrumental colour, and occupies a notable place in Schubert's middle-period output and in the development of 19th-century chamber music.
