Album by Antonín Dvořák & Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern & Karel Mark Chichon
Symphony No. 1 in C minor, Op. 3 and the Rhapsody, Op. 14 are orchestral compositions by Antonín Dvořák, composed in 1865 and 1874 respectively. The symphony exemplifies his early Romantic orchestral technique with dramatic, developmental writing and nascent nationalistic elements, while the rhapsody adopts a freer, folk-influenced, episodic structure with colourful orchestration, together marking formative steps in Dvořák's compositional development.
