Symphony No. 9 in C major, D. 944, nicknamed "The Great", is the ninth symphony by Austrian composer Franz Schubert, written in 1825-1826. The work is a large-scale Romantic symphony rooted in classical forms with expansive orchestration and broad melodic writing, and it is one of Schubert's late major orchestral works which shows him extending the scale of his symphonic writing.
