Piano Quartets K. 478 and K. 493 are a pair of piano quartets by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, composed in 1785 and 1786. Scored for piano, violin, viola and cello, they combine Classical-era clarity and balanced chamber textures with contrasting moods and virtuosic piano writing, and they mark Mozart's important contribution to the development of piano chamber music in the late 18th century.
