Turangalîla-symphonie
Album by Olivier Messiaen & Tamara Stefanovich & Thomas Bloch & Nationaltheater-Orchester Mannheim & Alexander Soddy
Turangalîla-Symphonie is a ten-movement symphony by French composer Olivier Messiaen, completed in 1948. The work combines expansive orchestral colour, piano-like textures and the distinctive ondes Martenot with complex rhythmic cycles and Messiaen's modes of limited transposition, and it occupies a central place in his postwar output and in mid-20th-century orchestral repertoire.
