Symphony no. 8 "Symphony of a Thousand"

Album by Gustav Mahler & Boston Symphony Orchestra & Seiji Ozawa

Symphony No. 8, nicknamed the "Symphony of a Thousand", is a symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1906. A late-Romantic large-scale work, it employs vast orchestral and vocal forces, including multiple choirs, soloists and organ, and combines sacred and secular texts across two expansive parts, marking a culminating point in Mahler's explorations of symphonic form and spiritual themes.
