Piano in the Foreground is a studio album by American jazz pianist and bandleader Duke Ellington, released in 1961. The album focuses attention on Ellington's piano in solo and small-group contexts, featuring intimate, blues-inflected jazz performances that emphasise his harmonic approach and melodic phrasing and reflecting a period in his career when he periodically shifted emphasis from big-band writing to foregrounding his keyboard work.
