Symphony no. 3

Album by Gustav Mahler & Japan Philharmonic Orchestra & Kenichiro Kobayashi

Symphony No. 3 is the third symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1896 and first performed in 1902. The work is expansive in scale and orchestration, calling for large orchestra and vocal forces and moving from nature-inspired motifs to more philosophical, transcendental material, representing a major development in Mahler's symphonic writing as he enlarged formal scope and incorporated voices into the symphonic palette.
