Lachrimae (1604) is a collection of consort music by English lutenist and composer John Dowland, published in 1604. The pieces consist of melancholic lute ayres and instrumental pavans arranged for viol consort and lute, characterised by modal harmonies, expressive dissonance and intricate contrapuntal writing, and they occupy a notable place in Dowland's output and in the development of English late‑Renaissance consort repertoire.
