The Nutcracker and The Sleeping Beauty Suites are orchestral suites from ballets by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, first performed in 1892 and 1890 respectively. They exemplify Tchaikovsky's mature Romantic ballet style, featuring rich, colourful orchestration, a variety of dance forms and vivid orchestral colouring that helped shape the late-Romantic ballet repertoire.
