Carnaval / Fantasie

Album by Robert Schumann & Helga Bryndís Magnúsdóttir

Carnaval and Fantasie are piano compositions by Robert Schumann, composed in 1834–35 and 1836–37 respectively. Both works exemplify Schumann's early Romantic piano writing, combining virtuosic keyboard demands, lyrical expression and programme-inspired structural ideas that reflect his literary and autobiographical interests, and they occupy a pivotal place in his development as a composer of solo piano repertoire.
