Symphony no. 10
Album by Dmitri Dmitrievich Shostakovich & Brussels Philharmonic & Ali Rahbari
Symphony No. 10 is the tenth symphony by Soviet composer Dmitri Shostakovich, completed in 1953. The work is an expansive orchestral symphony in a mid-20th-century modernist idiom, characterised by stark contrasts between agitation and brooding lyricism, incisive orchestration and a dramatic structural sweep, and it occupies a pivotal place in Shostakovich's output as a response to the political and personal climate of his mid-career.
