The Hungarian Rhapsodies are a set of piano compositions by Franz Liszt, composed between 1846 and 1853. They draw on Hungarian folk and Romani melodic idioms and feature virtuosic piano writing with sharp tempo and dynamic contrasts, occupying a notable place in Liszt's output as examples of his mature Romantic style and engagement with nationalistic elements in 19th-century music.
