The Soldier's Tale (complete) is a complete recording of Igor Stravinsky's theatrical work, composed in 1918. The music combines spare chamber textures, folk-inspired melodies, sharp rhythmic drive and elements of dance and early jazz within a narrator-and-ensemble framework, and it marks a turn in Stravinsky's post-World War I output toward smaller-scale, theatrical and neo-classical projects.
