Der Liebestrank is the German title of the comic opera L'elisir d'amore by Italian composer Gaetano Donizetti, which premiered in 1832. The work exemplifies the bel canto style with lyrical arias, ensemble passages and light orchestration that balance humour and romantic sentiment, and it occupies an important place in Donizetti's output as a representative of early 19th-century Italian opera buffa.
