Symphonies 5 & 6
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Stanisław Skrowaczewski & Rundfunk‐Sinfonieorchester Saarbrücken
Symphonies Nos. 5 and 6 are the fifth and sixth symphonies by Ludwig van Beethoven, completed and first performed in 1808. The Fifth is driven by a short rhythmic motif and rigorous development and contrast, while the Sixth takes a pastoral, programme approach with folk-like melodies and expanded orchestral colour, and both were composed during Beethoven's middle period as his music became more expansive and he began to experience hearing loss.
