Symphonies Nos. 3 & 5
Album by Franz Schubert & Daniel Barenboim & Berliner Philharmoniker
Symphonies Nos. 3 and 5 are early symphonic works by Franz Schubert, composed in 1815 and 1816 respectively. Both pieces sit within the Classical tradition with clear formal outlines, bright orchestration and lyrical themes, and they chart Schubert's development from youthful emulation of his predecessors towards a more individual harmonic language that anticipates his later symphonic achievements.
