The Planets / The Perfect Fool
Album by Gustav Holst & Kansas City Symphony & Michael Stern
The Planets and The Perfect Fool are orchestral works by English composer Gustav Holst, composed in the 1910s with first performances around 1918 to 1920. They employ large orchestral forces, modal harmonies and strong rhythmic elements, combine folk-influenced melodies with colourful orchestration, and come from the period when Holst moved from choral and teaching work to larger concert pieces.
