Symphony No. 11 is the eleventh symphony by Dmitri Shostakovich, composed and premiered in 1957. The work is written in a broadly tonal, programme-like style that evokes the events of 1905 through march-like motifs, stark orchestral colours and moments of sombre brass and strings, and it is one of Shostakovich's late symphonies that explicitly engages with historical and political themes in his output.
