Songs of the Auvergne
Album by Joseph Canteloube & Netania Davrath & Pierre de la Roche
Songs of the Auvergne is a song cycle of folk-song arrangements by French composer Joseph Canteloube, composed and first compiled between 1923 and 1930. The work sets traditional Auvergne melodies for soprano with lush orchestral accompaniment, blending folk-inflected modal tunes and impressionistic orchestration and reflecting Canteloube's sustained engagement with regional folk material in early 20th-century French vocal music.
