Smetana: Ma Vlast

Album by Bedřich Smetana & Česká filharmonie & Semyon Bychkov

Ma Vlast is a set of six symphonic poems by Czech composer Bedřich Smetana, composed between 1874 and 1879. The music is Romantic and nationalistic in style, richly orchestral and programmatic with folk‑inspired themes and evocative depictions of Bohemian landscapes and history, and it occupies a central place in Smetana's later output and in the development of Czech national music.
