Elijah is an oratorio by German composer Felix Mendelssohn, premiered in 1846. A large-scale Romantic sacred work scored for soloists, choir and orchestra, it features expressive melodic writing, dramatic choral textures and vivid orchestral colouring, and represents one of Mendelssohn's final major compositions reflecting his engagement with religious and choral traditions late in his career.
