Suite from the Ballet Romeo and Juliet
Album by Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev & The Philadelphia Orchestra & Riccardo Muti
Suite from the Ballet Romeo and Juliet is an orchestral suite by Sergei Prokofiev, drawn from his 1935–36 ballet Romeo and Juliet. The suite condenses the ballet's richly orchestrated themes into a concert work characterised by lyrical melodies, bold brass writing and driving rhythmic energy, and it represents a significant example of Prokofiev's contribution to mid‑20th century ballet and orchestral repertoire.
