Symphony No. 5 is the fifth symphony by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, completed in 1943. Combining pastoral lyricism, modal harmonies and warm, transparent orchestration, the work reflects a more consolatory and introspective direction in Vaughan Williams's mid-career symphonic output following his earlier, more turbulent works.
