Symphonies nos. 40 & 41
Album by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart & The Cleveland Orchestra & George Szell
Symphonies Nos. 40 & 41 are orchestral works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, composed in 1788. These late Classical-period symphonies are characterised by increased chromaticism, dramatic contrasts, contrapuntal complexity and expanded orchestral colours, and they occupy a pivotal place at the end of Mozart's symphonic output as exemplars of his mature handling of form and expression.
