My Country
Album by Bedřich Smetana & Česká filharmonie & Václav Neumann
Má vlast (My Country) is a cycle of six symphonic poems for orchestra by Bedřich Smetana, composed between 1874 and 1879. Rooted in Romantic nationalism, the cycle employs rich orchestral colour and programmatic writing that evokes Bohemian landscapes and history, and it occupies a central place in Smetana's later output and in the development of Czech national music.
