Sonatas for Cello and Piano
Album by Claude Debussy & Benjamin Britten & Nicolas Bacri & Marie Hallynck & Cédric Tiberghien
The Sonata for Cello and Piano is a sonata for cello and piano by French composer Claude Debussy, composed in 1915. The work exemplifies Debussy's late-period chamber style, characterised by concise movements, modal and whole-tone-inflected harmonies, subtle chromaticism and an emphasis on colour and texture that broadened the expressive possibilities of the cello-piano duo and forms part of his late sonata output influential in early 20th-century chamber music.
