Harold in Italy, op. 16
Album by Hector Berlioz & Walter Trampler & Georges Prêtre & London Symphony Orchestra
Harold in Italy, Op. 16 is a symphony with solo viola by French composer Hector Berlioz, composed in 1834. Combining vivid orchestral colour, prominent but often accompanying viola lines and programme-driven episodic movements, it occupies a hybrid space between symphony and concerto and marks an important stage in Berlioz's development of large-scale orchestral writing.

First released: December 2017
