String Quartets IV & VI

Album by Béla Bartók & Quartetto Lyskamm

String Quartets IV & VI is a recording of chamber works by Hungarian composer Béla Bartók, composed in 1928 and 1939. The music is rooted in modernist language with dissonant harmonies, folk-influenced rhythms and extended string techniques, and the two quartets occur late in Bartók's quartet cycle when his style is denser and more concentrated within 20th-century chamber music.
